I don't know where courage like hers comes from. There are similar, equally public stories, but hers was/is deeply affecting. Glad the home town is honoring her memory.

This is one of the greatest things I have seen recently..... Lauren was truly a pioneer of spirit.... of belief of faith..... I will be passing by there this summer and am going to make it a point to stop there and salute this brave young woman's spirit

I agree. I was disappointed that ESPN considered someone that went through a gender change was more courageous than Lauren. When I attended the final four, I was glad that they honored her . Her parents were at half court to receive the award and I was glad I was able to clap for her where her parents could hear. Everyone in the arena seemed to have the same feelings based on the volume and length of the clapping.
