Coach said she could have played Coffey if absolutely necessary. Cunningham is hurt, Hartley and Griner are gone, and Breland is out. Shay Peddy got lots of playing time.

Didn't watch tonight but Phoenix just looks flat out better without BG. Forces others to step up more. SDS and DT look as good as ever without BG, and Turner has been an absolute beast the last 5 games, averaging nearly 13 rebounds and 4.5 blocks during that stretch. Makes a big difference when you have higher energy players on the court to feed off one another.

I think this nails it. BG can have a big impact on a game, but more often than not when I watch her play, it appears she's not even trying. That has to have some effect on her teammates.

Agreed. Especially compared to a player like Turner who is so active out there and whose skill set compliments scoring guards well. Having her/Vaughn inside allow SDS/DT to take more shots which I think gets them in a better rhythm. Funny how switching player personnel can look worse on paper but appears to make a team better. We're seeing it in Vegas too without Liz.

They made it sound like Cunningham's hip is not too serious. She was out as precautionary. Maybe coach speak.

The numbers that stood out for me were 8-9 shooting and 6 blocked shots. Bri is getting the ball in her favorite areas and she's finishing. Kudos to DT and Sky for that and Turner for finishing.

Turner had a very productive season is Australia (was first-team all-league, along with Kia Nurse) and she gained a lot of confidence. Plus, I think she continues to get stronger from that ACL injury of a few years back. Her "hops" look quicker and stronger than I've seen in years. What she lacks in development of a mid-range jumper is augmented by her work around the basket and ability to rebound and help on defense. Good player and really good person.
