So, they are saying the Fever's Allemand (3rd in assists in the WNBA) is Crystals main competition for ROY. I guess the record of the team is less critical for ROY than MVP.
I discussed that exact point with Eric last night. We think that being on a winning team really helps a player in MVP voting. We think that having a great team is less relevant in choosing the ROY award. I think it should matter some, however. Isn't the game about winning? Minnesota is 9-3. They probably would be 6-6 at best without Crystal. Sabrina's, Chennedy's, and Satou's teams have won
only 8 games combined. I like Allemand's game and have since I saw in Tenerife in 2018 (the Belgians are good!), but I think Crystal has been the best rookie, based on performance. (Sabrina or Chennedy would be better if they had played more games.)
