Rough night for Maya and Sylvia, combining for 17 points. The Lynx don't have enough talent at the other positions to win when that happens. Whalen is a shell of her former self. Alexis Jones has been pretty bad this year.

Talk about a DEEP three. Biggest mistake by Mississippi State in the title game was going away from Vivians in the 4th. She's been one of the top rookies this year along with Wilson, Mitchell and DeShields.

One of those games where the heavy favorite feels they cant lose. Underdog holds on to tenuous lead and favorites think it is just a matter of time. But surprise.

Whalen reminds me of Catchings her final year. Both are hall of fame players with a lot of leadership and high basketball IQs who you want on the floor but neither really has enough left in the tank to give you their traditional stats nightly. Brunson and Augustus also fall in that category right now but I expect a couple of additional seasons out of them. I think Whalen is done after this year given her new role coaching at University of Minnesota.

Sue is a little older than Whalen but her numbers have been great the last couple of seasons as Stewart and Loyd have taken over as the needed scorers.

Maya and Sylvia still make Minnesota a very dangerous team.
