Joe must be thinking what what he had to do to get the ball tonight. He did what was needed and then some last week. He should have started our had some scripted plays. Evers kept it close tonight, but his dismal first half screwed us.

You guys are nuts. Evers proved he is the guy after tonight and I think he is going to get better.
Mora set his terms. Fagnano wasn't benched and not playing him probably wasn't the difference maker.

Evers made key runs. He made key mistakes. Evers had opportunities to win. The defense stepped up big after being walked over against maryland.

In what universe do you bench a QB off of a blowout for a guy that has shown nothing to indicate he is ready to lead this offense?
UConn scored 1 offensive TD tonight. Pitiful. You are so right Fignano is the guy to lead UConn. Evers is a below average passer. Tired of him throwing behind receivers. He will lose a lot of football games for the Huskies.

I think what was indefensible was the play calling by Gordon Sammis. That was absolutely unexplainable for about 75% of the game. There was a specific moment at the very end of the 1st half when we ran the ball (I think for the 2nd time in a row) on 3rd and 15. What is he doing? Nick was just getting his legs under him at that very moment. I absolutely cannot stand this OC, he’s a total joke. If Mora has a sack he needs to let him go after this season. This loss was totally avoidable by a competent OC,

I agree, what was with all of the trick plays? That 3rd and 7 formation was wild

The fumble cost us 3 points. The pick gave them great field position. He missed a bunch of open guys and almost threw another 3-4 interceptions. It could have been a bloodbath.
The fumble was because Cam Edwards completely whiffed on his block. It would have been better if Edwards wasn't there as at least then Evers would have expected the defender to get to him with zero resistance.

No, it happened because he wasnt securing the ball. He was too slow to make a decision of what he should do with the football.

OK, I'll play.

How exactly does he become ready?
How does he become ready? Any way that doesn't cost us games.

You start the, guy who's proven he can win a game. It's up to Evers to prepare himself to win games. If he's ready great. If he's never ready that's on him. I think he has athletic potential. But right now he hasn't proven he can beat even a mediocre team like Duke. It's absurd to bench the guy that just blew out our last opponent. Maybe you play this game at some lower level. Maybe HS or lower. At this level when your team has been anemic on offense for years you don't pull the guy who scored more points in a half than anyone can remember.

I was coming back from vacation last night. So I come here this morning after a UConn loss in which they beat the spread by 10.5 points ... and everyone is pissed off. Which is just the way it's supposed to be. Screw the spread, that could easily have been a W. It feels like the BY has turned a corner.

Those with the usual over the top complaining should give equal time to the fact they were wrong about their prediction of a Duke blowout vs their whining about a close seven pt road loss to a team that was heavily favored.

Exhibit a: qb plays against top ranked defense and doesn’t have a great game. Actually leaves game with concussion

Exhibit b: different qb goes up against club program and throws for 7 touchdowns

So your premise is that the qb from exhibit b is obviously the better choice, even though the qb from exhibit a win the qb contest over several weeks of direct competition?

My view from last night is that UConn was competitive. They made some big plays on defense, then had some lapses and gave up big plays…. Off sides on 4th down?

Learning to win is a process. UConn battled back, and had the momentum. Its a different mentality in that spot and UConn hasn’t been in that position much.

It’s frustrating but we’re seeing this team develop. I think one indicator of a team turning the corner is getting into games like this. Tight, competitive, and down to the final 2 minutes.

Yes, a win would have awesome for many reasons. But I’m not ready to say this game plan or process was off. I saw a process working last night. Things are starting to click. It’s there, just need to be more consistent and clean up some mental mistakes.

I think Evers will now get some games where he can really make some progress. It’s now in him to make it happen. He’s got the tools, and now he’s getting the playing time.

Two missed field goals didn’t help
Those two missed and easily makable field goals did more to lose this game than anything Evers didn’t do. Evers wasn’t perfect in this game but he did show me marked improvement, he did things I never saw him do against Maryland. Maybe Fagnano should’ve gotten the start, maybe not, but it was Mora’s and Sammis’s call.
