Inaugural AP all BE teams

Tyler Kolek and Souley Boum is a reaaaaaally difficult backcourt to squeeze into. imo the only reason Hawkins was on the BE first team was because the BE doesn't count the POY (Kolek) in the lineup, which let Boum and Hawkins onto the first team

Hawk got snubbed. How can you be one of 5 finalist for nation’s top shooting guards but not in your conference first team?

Hehe Gradey Dick. Go Hawk!

“Fans can support their favorite player by participating in Fan Voting starting Friday, March 10, on hoophallawards.com. The Fan Vote will count as one committee vote during the finalist selection process.”

I don’t know enough about the other guys on this list.

Anyone who follows better than me think that Hawk has a chance to win this award ?

Stats are pretty competitive. I'd guess Sasser or Flagler wins it. I thought Gradey was a SF but I guess he's a big SG

1. Sasser 17.1
2. Hawkins 16.4
3. Wong 15.9
4. Flagler 15.6
5. Dick 14.3

APG -
1. Flagler 4.8
2. Wong 3.4
3. Sasser 3.3
4. Dick 1.6

4. Wong 38.1% (1.7 3PM)
5. Hawkins 37.8% (2.9 3PM)

Because Boum is really Xavier's point guard, not a shooting guard (despite the points).

Sasser was the heavy favorite before the year. He started the year out pretty cold, but has bounced back strongly in the 2nd half. He's the best player on the best team in the country by many metrics, so it's very likely his award.

Wong won ACC POTY, so he's probably #2.

interesting...now seeing he's on the bob cousey watch list
Jones is the SG, and he's damned good. I suppose you could argue Kunkel is SG and Jones is a SF, but there's no real difference. When Hunter is in, Jones is more clearly a G.

Thanks for doing the work I was too lazy to do.

Hawk certainly not far worse by the numbers than anyone on the list.

If you exclusively compare stats, Hawk really doesn't have any that are better than Boum's this year. Boum had better FG%, better 3P%, marginally more points and rebounds, over 3x the assists per game, etc.

Hawk's ceiling is crazy and I personally don't know if I'd pick any player in the Big East over him, but Boum has just had an incredible year honestly.

Gradey Dick would definitely be getting the shaft if he doesn’t win

Several commentators said Hawkins was the best pure shooting guard in a down year for such. Expect it to go to overrated Houston and their guard Sasser:(

Honestly the AP teams mean nothing. The real BE teams were already announced. Could care less what AP writers have to say.

Kolek was on the first team as there was 6 players named. The real POY in Big East hasn’t been announced yet.
