Trying to make sense of the possibilities, but, if Xavier, with one win this year, went all the way in Big East tournament and won it, they would have an automatic bid?

How would that work? 16 seed? Probably against SC?

Wondering if any team with a really poor record has had that happen?

Maybe 12? I think 13-16 are reserved for small conference AQ.

Not worth worrying about though.

Teams with losing records have definitely snagged their conference's auto bid before, but I doubt there have hardly ever been teams with less than 10 wins getting in.

If Xavier wins the Big East tourney, the rest of the conference members should be banned from the NCAA Tournament. I feel pretty confident there's just about a 0% chance of the Musketeers pulling that off. Winless in conference, closest game was a 9 point loss, most games were 30, 40 or more point beat downs. I think UConn could go 4 on 5 against Xavier and still win.

Theory --Yes

Lowest seed to reach the Sweet 16: Three No. 13 seeds (Texas A&M in 1994, Liberty in 2005 and Marist in 2007)

Lowest seed to reach the Elite Eight: No. 11 Gonzaga in 2011

Lowest seed to reach the Final Four: No. 9 Arkansas in 1998

Lowest seed to reach the national championship: No. 5 Louisville in 2013

Lowest seed to win the national championship: Three No. 3 seeds (1994 North Carolina, 1997 Tennessee, 2023 LSU)

Thank you! This is what I was really curious about. Appreciate it.

If you’ve ever gone to the track and put a bet on a horse with odds of 40 to 1 or more, there’s always a moment when you think about how much money you’ll make if your longest of long shots comes in first. That fantasy typically disappears at the top of the stretch run when the horse you bet on trails the field by 20 lengths……:(

What are the odds of winning MEGABUCKS?? Could Xavier win? Of course: yes.
nothing "illogical" about the possibility of four wins in a row (try flipping a coin
for four heads or tails in a row.). Logic says it could happen. I will give Xavier
a chance in the 2034 BIG EAST CHAMPIONSHIP. The Musketeers will just have
to be patient!

Well Xavier is getting doubled up by Georgetown in the 3rd quarter. X's season will mercifully come to an end today. So...no, they do not have a chance.

First of all , there is no possibility. Second, if they won the Big East tournament, they automatically are invited to the Big Dance. Where they would be seeded is a different matter. No clue, because it is an impossibility.

No need to deal with hypotheticals like if a monkey flew out of someones rear end..... as Georgetown was offended by this thread and made sure Xavier did not win
