Is going to be the ONLY p5 league without its own network. I sure hope as part of our sales pitch we bang the drum that no school outside the P5 can offer as much to potential league network as uconn. Be it from a market standpoint or a quality of content standpoint. Our women's ball can get more viewers for a marquee game than a subpar fbs football game.

So even if there are no plans for big 12 network initially , we have to stress that it is an untapped revenue stream and how we benefit that goal. Be it a traditional or non traditional network, we know folks will watch uconn sports other than football. What other potential candidate can claim that? No one fb program will bring one additional dollar than any other candidate but our other sports can do that.

Thoughts other than fb drives the bus?

Well, David Ubben had a couple of tweets that seemed to indicate that the Big 12 isn't totally giving up on having some type of network. The second tweet isn't clear because of the double negative, but he seems to be saying that in June, the market decided that a Big 12 network wouldn't happen but that maybe that is no longer true.

He is also the one who said that "Multiple Big 12 sources indicated that Cincinnati and Connecticut top the Big 12's "fluid," so-called "wish list."

Boren: "It appears we live in a very fast-changing world. Reports on the ACC indicate some exploration of some platforms."

Back in June, the Big 12 said "the market" decided a Big 12 network wouldn't happen. After ACC news yesterday ... maybe not.

My point is, even if there are no immediate plans for it, we should sell how important we could be for one down the line.

The idea is to try and nudged up to that 11th spot. The first school in line. I think they can do it. I hope we get off to a nice start this FB season.

In all reality Fox should create a XII network similar to the BTN setup it has now. It should/will be in Fox's best interest to keep the XII as a P5 conference- its inventory that for the most part Fox controls. Fox needs to see what the B1G is trying to do and compliment it with the XII in order to nail down its college sports programming (along with the Big East basketball games it has).

It's a shame that academics have taken a back seat to every other metric in the decision making process of at least three of the five P5 conferences. Only the B10 and PAC12 seem to care anymore about academics. It's unfortunate, because UCONN is light years ahead of almost all the potential B12 additions, except perhaps BYU, from a purely academic standpoint. The fact that academics is playing virtually no role in the decision making process is appalling, considering that's supposed to be the No. 1 priority for university presidents.....providing a quality education for their respective student bodies. The whole process is nothing more than a giant money grab, with no consideration of the real purpose of higher education. It's sickening to watch, and the NCAA is largely to blame for the present state of affairs. Money corrupts.

Meh! The academics part is overplayed imo. How is a student at Texas affected educationally based on who their teams play football against?

On the other hand I don't believe it's completely overlooked.

If it hadn't been completely overlooked, UCONN would be sitting in the ACC right now.

The point is getting missed here. Forcing student-athletes to miss inordinate amounts of class time to routinely travel thousands of miles to games halfway or further across the country shows a complete disregard for the student part of student-athlete. The hypocrisy involved on the part of all these P5 institutions and others is off the charts. They profess to care about academics, but most of them couldn't care less as long as the athletic program flourishes and the money keeps flowing in.
