in memory, on Memorial Day. | The Boneyard

in memory, on Memorial Day.

I do not post much, but there are times when I feel compelled to do so.
My thoughts and prayers today are with all my brothers and sisters who ever wore or are currently wearing any of the uniforms of our great country. I sincerely thank you for your service.
I especially remember and pray for all those who never had the chance to come back home and live in peace.

my promise, to come home,
like gossamer, in future unknown.
yet liberty, the human desire,
oft calls for death, lest freedom expire
.

blow on, you soapbox orator,
of mundane thoughts, that tend to bore.
still we will care, for the matter at hand,
as this is our home, our native land.

tempus fugit, so they say,
brings childish notions, for athanasia.
what greater demise can be had,
than defending us, and our sweet life in the USA?

i feel good!

forever thankful. Clif thoughts on a cold and grey Memorial Day.

I was one of approximately 30,000 brass players who played Taps at 3:00 p.m. today. The number who participate grows exponentially every year. I hope to still be participating when that number hits 100,000 or even 1,000,000.

It wasn't a good idea but I went up to Harlem in the tumultuous late 60s to see James Brown play the Apollo. It was tough to make it back to Queens, reminiscent of the Warriors' struggles in their 1979 cult classic.
Twenty years after, I enjoyed JB present his upbeat & patriotic tune - Living in America - to the Rocky IV movie. The man is a legend!
However, it is not well known that James Brown also did gr8 opera, eh? Have a look: Luciano Pavarotti, James Brown - It's A Man's Man's Man's World (Stereo)
