Well deserved. I believe Cathy Rush is already a HoF member, but great that the Mighty Macs as an entire team brought in the AIAW tournament with style.

In fact, not too many schools successfully three-peated in WCBB. Immaculata was successful in 1974, Delta State followed suit in 1977, Tennessee did it in 1998, and UConn got it done in 2004. Meanwhile, other two-time defending champs have not been as lucky. Old Dominion won the AIAW in 1979 and 1980 but couldn't do it in 1981, La Tech won the penultimate AIAW in 1981 and the inaugural NCAA in 1982 but didn't win it in 1983, USC won the 1983 and 1984 NCAA but not in 1985, Tennessee and Candace Parker won it all in 2007 and 2008 but wasn't close in 2009, and UConn went 78-0 in 2009 and 2010 but fell just short in 2011.

This upcoming season, I'll be thinking of the Mighty Macs, along with Diana, Maria C, Annie, Barb Turner, Battle, Crockett, Jessica Moore, and everyone else from UConn 2004. Maybe the Macs can let some positive mojo blow from Springfield, Mass over to Storrs...

Maybe someday a Uconn team. The Grads, Flying Queens, 96 Olympic, I would hope go earlier.

Based on the teams already in I dont see any Uconn or Tenn team going in unless the committees take a whole different look at how they vote.

The HOF's are so subjective. So much depends on who votes. I am beyond thrilled that the Red Heads are in and were first. Yet, not to have the Edmonton Grads in, is a shame.

There's a movie about Immaculata College and Cathy Rush. It's called 'The Mighty Macs'. Great movie.

My first experience with WCBB was when Queens College hosted the 1973 AIAW WBB Tournament. Immaculata won it, championship game at MSG. But watching all of the gals hang out at cafeteria during breaks in game was fun too.

For anyone who doesn't know, Theresa Grentz returned to work for Immaculata after her retirement from coaching, as a fundraiser. Which I personally think was great.

usually Michael Jordan has his own party where many of the inductees attend. not sure if this was the case this year.

tonight is the ring ceremony down at Mohegan. prior to this event many do mingle around the casino, etc.

You may be able to meet up with them there.

When the Red Heads were inducted, my 2 daughters were walking around prior to the event. they sat down and were approached by a tall man who started talking to them.

At the ceremony, my son and I sat next to a prior Hall of Famer and my son had his picture taken with him. When we showed my daughters the picture, they yelled that was who was talking to them.

We were shocked....It was none other than Dr J.

If you can afford it, the whole induction process would be an awesome bucket list for many. We sat on the bottom floor because we had to go on stage when presented by Dr J.

directly 2 rows in front of us was Larry Bird. directly behind me was Jody Conradt and Cynthia Cooper. Maigc, Kareem,, Cousey, Havlichek and so many many more were all within 5o feet or so and were very gracious in chatting and taking pictures with various players of the Red Heads.

Absolutely true. Unfortunately, when Vivian was inducted, we couldn't afford it. The WBB HOF was much more reasonable, there were 10 RU fans there and we all attended her private party. That was cool.

As to the Springfield Hall, my wife did prepare the fan club "ad" for the induction book and one of the folks from the Hall staff invited us to visit the museum as his guest which we enjoyed. And one of Viv's guests did give us her souvenir that was given to the folks who actually attended the induction. But the price to attend ourselves was, as I said above, a bit prohibitive.

WBHOF is much more affordable for sure. we stayed at the hotel next door when Red Heads were honored. Muffet was inducted that year and she came over and hung with us a bit.

Naismith is very $$. Red Heads induction will probably be only time for us. I had the honor of talking with Vivian at the ring ceremony about the history of the game. She is a very gracious and humble person off the court. I have high respect for her.

A tiny school tucked off the road on the way to Paoli, Pa--beautiful, un assuming, campus. This Catholic "girls" school produced so much that is today's Women's Basketball. Too many Coaches and Great players to mention.Suffice to say---WHAT TOOK THEM SO LONG--- THANKS BE TO GOD HE DIDN'T LET THEM FORGET THIS TINY CATHOLIC SCHOOLS STATUS AS THE "BEGINNING OF WBB"

so many stayed in the game and glad to see it. yet when it comes to why so long i say that about Edmont Grads n Wayland Baptist. Wbb existed for manydecades before and though the game was half court it still was there and those teams should be in.

As it is, only 10 teams are inducted. 4 of them were in the first 4 years of the Hof between 59 - 63. shamefully, women were nott
even included until 1986.

The Red Heads became the first 2 years ago and already there is a second. I view this as a good sign.

the question i have is are teams being nominated?

abive someone mentioned a UConn team should be considered. well, why doesnt someone write it up and submit it.

I watched the induction last night. Great speech by Theresa Grentz. These women were true pioneers of the women's college basketball we know today. An honor well deserved as well as long overdue.
