If there ever was a time for those, it's this year. It's easy to nit-pick the day after, but in the heat of the moment while you're there on the road it's not as simple. I'm sure coach Calhoun had his share of mistakes before he became a legend. I'd love to hear an interview with him where he could look back at some mistakes and some funny moments. Though I'm sure that could become a book.
I don't disagree with the premise, but what mistakes?
I thought the only questionable coaching call was not fouling, but that seems to be preference rather than a mistake with most coaches. Not sure if this loss will change Ollie's mind or not, but it wouldn't change Calhoun's on the matter. You can argue the philosophy of it, but it's not a mistake if that's how you always coach that situation. If that's what he wanted the kids to do, then it was executed pretty perfectly.
A full speed dash that turns into a 25+ foot
fadeaway three from a guy shooting (at the time) 4 of 26 from three on the year (15 for 79, or 19%, in his career). Guarded or not (and it was defended) it's a good percentage shot for the defense to allow. If it was a set shot from a good 3PT shooter, I would see the argument but Cadougan is a horrendous 3PT shooter.
