Illegibility of thread content

When I click on a thread, when the thread comes on, it is totally bleached out, absolutely no contrast, just faint and hard to read. Why? Any body had such a malady?

Under preferences there's different "styles" or backgrounds to try.
I have my style set to Dark Side (b) which is a black background with white type.
See if that or another background helps.
Click on your name at the top right and then click on preferences, style is the top setting.
