This has become a real problem at the amateur level. There is a man who will repaint illegal bats with the color and graphics of legal bats. There are probably a lot more like him. He started out painting bats for softball players in bar leagues but according to him his business has changed and this is how he would rank sales today:
1. Little League players
2. College players
3. Softball players
Little Leagues have had to move their fences out from 200 ft as kids are bigger and stronger. I saw some HRs a few weeks ago in District LL playoffs that had to travel 270-280 ft.Throw in some illegal bats and the game can become very dangerous. The problem is the mound is the same distance and the ball is on top of infielders much faster. The fake bunt and swing is particularly scary.Time to get rid of metal bats completely before some LL pitcher gets killed. Too much money involved for the bat companies for that to ever happen but it is shame that the game is being dangerously manipulated.
