It's interesting that of all the draws, I wish we got the 11th seed. Not only would we be playing at 9:00 PM slot and we'd get to watch each round w/out missing any time from work, the draw would be Nova, USF and ND, all teams we've beaten this year and came a put back away from taking the ND game to OT and possibly sweeping them. But that seed is obviously not an option.
As for 9 or 10, I'd prefer the 10 for it's prime time 7:00 PM slot, but that sets up against PC, UL and Marquette, 3 teams that beat us and two of them did sound soundly. If SJU beats RU that would put us here and I don't like our chances of getting through these 3 teams.
So screw the time slot and let's hope for a RU win over SJU where we get to face DePaul and WVU, two teams we beat, during our extended lunch time to then face a SU team that we played toe-to-toe against for about 70 of the 80 minutes we've played against them. This draw posses an interesting possibility where it is not out of the realm of crazy for UConn to win 4 in a row and make it to the BET final. If they can beat the two teams they've already beaten in DePaul and WVU, then use that momentum to beat SU, they will face the winner of the Cincy vs Game #4 team. UConn lost to Cinci by just 3 points and could have won that game. Imagine if they manage to win those 4 games, they would face the winner of the ND vs Marquette game if those high seeds hold serve. I don't like how we match-up against Marquette, but I think we match-up well against ND and it wouldn't be out of the question of beating them for the BET Championship game. Why the h*ll not!!!!
So similar to last year (I stated that how rare it was that a 1st round BET team in UConn had the talent and ability to make a 5 game run at the title) that due to the nature of the draw, UConn can repeat that feat if they take care of business in the first two rounds and find a way to put close to a full 40 minutes against #1 Seed SU and get over that critical mid BET game hump.Where this logic is flawed is in the fact that this team hasn't won back-to-back games since mid-January and unless Bazz, Lamb and Roscoe have finally healed of the injuries that have plagued them most of the season, I don't think they can physically handle any more than 2 back-to-back games. I hope I'm wrong about that last point and they are capable, though there are enough other reasons why this is unlikely.
