The scar tissue post op is not uncommon and is more pronounced after exertion. What it feels like now is bursitis. The bursitis can explain why some of his open shots were way off.  I think surgery was offered and Dr Andrews reviewed the MRI. The surgery is not career threatening. It is likely arthroscopic surgery to scrap the scar tissues and improve mobility in his shoulder. The recovery time from that is not a whole yr but rather a few months at most. Never the less, his season is essentially over if that is done. The surgery will not even be considered except for high level athletes since it can make a difference in shooting, rebounding and passing. Normal progression is NSAIDS and physical therapy. Again, this is base on speculation from the data that I got from this board. I have no inside info on his medical condition
