UConn, Pitt, Louisville, Cinci, Syracuse, West Virginia did most of the heavy lifting on the basketball front anyways.

Throw in Rutgers, USF and say Temple, UCF or Memphis and you would have a nice 10 team league that kept the majority of our rivalries in tact and kept MSG for the Tourney.

What a damn shame.

The C flats were told by Fox that they needed the name in order to get the contract. They were squeezed by this ultimatum and the football schools, knowing this bargained tough. Two of the three football schools are hoping to not be in the conference for long so they gambled on giving up the name for the monies. Hopefully they gambled correctly because the name has value.

On the CR board Marty Jackson felt the new conference name should be B. East. I think this would be brilliant! Let the C7 and Fox sue! The publicity alone would make up for a lot of things. If B. East is too close then B.east!!!

I'm kind of happy for them. Many of those schools have been a big part of BE Basketball for many years. They got screwed too. Not as bad as UConn, but those schools were totally ignored by the FB schools. We're going to end up in the ACC, or B1G eventually. I have no animosity toward the Catholic schools, only for schools like SYR, BC and the like.
