I know most here would love to see us play Tenn but I will be rooting for Gonzaga to take them down. They don't want to play us during the regular season so I hope Gonzaga gets the honor in this the post season.:D

Well. I think Gonzaga can beat them but matters not. Tennessee won't beat Maryland. Period.

A gonzaga-Duke regional final in both men and women ?? A possibility.... slim.... but possible.

Happened in 2010.... Baylor and Duke in both. Not sure if it has ever happened before or since.

Gonzaga will be playing at home, with the other teams far from home in a strange time zone. I'll be shocked if Gonzaga doesn't win the Regional.

Just curious, how do people know that Gonzaga, or in another topic ASU, wont play UConn?
Has their coach come out and said this?

Pretty sure Woof was talking about TN.
Thanks. I misread the post. i think the Zags will play any top team. Probably if its a home and home set up.

Yeah - the constant issue for the true mid-majors is getting some quality home games OOC - lots of major teams willingly will have them in their house, but few want to give them the return games. And Uconn is not prefect in that regard - Marist would love a home and home, but Uconn will only play them in CT - the thinking being two fold: no recruiting advantage as we have a huge footprint in the area already and so the small school teams we will play at their house are more distant and offer new exposure for the program; and finances - small gym, lost revenue if we play in their house.

One thing I will say about Tennessee in regards to OOC, is that if they schedule a mid-major, it's usually a 2:1 or 3:1 contract. Sometimes, they schedule 1:1 OOC games, usually if there is a Tennessee connection i.e. Wichita State and Lipscomb this season. We are playing at Wichita State next year, due to Jody Adams & Bridgette Gordon being on staff there, and Jody always joins Nikki Caldwell and Holly on their Cruising for a Cause motorcycle ride for cancer research. We played at Lipscomb due to Izzy needing a home game in Nashville besides Vanderbilt, and their coach was a Student Manager under Pat.

Budgets also come into play. Holly was only allowed a certain number of away OOC games to maintain the yearly travel budget, and since UTC and Lipscomb are a couple hour bus rides away, those are easy to do.
