Watched the game again and the energy she showed, the warrior's heart and the unrelenting commitment to do whatever she could to bring this one home. This new K is so impressive and she brought it to a peak at precisely the right moment. Heart of a Husky!

I am really hoping for a Dolson like transformation for KML. She has so much potential and I truly believe she needs to do this for her WNBA and USA team aspirations.

Her future is at the 2.

I can't conceive that she would ever have the speed or quickness to play the 2 slot and especially to defend the 2 spot. Beyond that, though she may need to be a little more fit and improve on her quickness by maybe shedding a few pounds, her strength inside was a wonderful attribute for UConn and made a big difference in the tournament. Why wouldn't you want her at the three position??? We are going to be so loaded at the one and two position that it isn't going to be funny. She is a much bigger asset right where she is. I think Kia Nurse is going to surprise a bunch of people and with Ekmark reportedly a fantastic shooter, isn't there more likelihood either of these girls will fight for that two position spot.

Charde Houston has had a six year WNBA career so far. Recently traded from Phoenix to Seattle.

I see KML and Charde as similar players with KML probably being the better shooter. Charde had difficulty adjusting to Geno wanting her to expand her game, while KML has embraced the need to expand her game. Charde was a 3rd round pick and I expect if completely healthy KML will be a 1st round pick.

DiMauro wrote an article during the Lincoln regional in which he referenced some WNBA folks being unable to identify any players currently in the WNBA who shoot the ball better than Kaleena, but that she'll need to improve her fitness if she wants to maximize her abilities. I think Kaleena already knows this, and Geno will deliver the message to her before the summer break. I expect a leaner and meaner Kaleena next year. I also think she and Stewie will both work on their ball-handling.

Gotta disagree here. She is surprisingly quick and will only get quicker with a Dolson like body change.

She played the 2 when Uconn went big.

I do not see KML and Charde as anything alike. Please explain.
Well they both play BB, that's about it. Charde couldn't hold a candle to Kaleena.

Kaleena was the most consistent Husky throughout the tournament. Also, I thought Stef deserved to be the MOP: 17 points, 16 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 blocks. Breanna was incredible, but Stef was the best last night.

Kaleena looked and played great as a soph. I saw all 6 tourney games in person last year. From my nosebleed seats, Kaleena looked and played like Maya. She had a great tourney this year and last. Stewie may overshadow her, but Kaleena is a great player. I expect her to be an AP AA next year.

She would have been this year without the injuries and illness.

Kaleena came into the season in better shape than ever. Go back and watch her before the injury against Stanford. She had worked hard in the off season. It was obvious.

At the 2 we lose her rebounding skills, 3 is her position IMO
Exactly. I'm still believing that she isn't ever going to be the player at the two position that she is and will continue to be at the three because of her body type. Her body type isn't anything like Stef's so she really can't ever make as radical a transition as did Dolson. Beyond that, though she may have played at the two during the course of the season it was only momentary and against overtly quick shooting guards she would be at a disadvantage. At the three, she actually can gain advantage with her multitude of skills. Just look at the NCAA tournament this year and how many points she got on put backs after rebounding in heavy traffic. Beyond that, she will never be able to play the two at the next level so for various reasons she and Geno know where she needs to be the vast majority of the time. Insofar as her playing the two occasionally, all the Huskies have a certain flexibility and that is helpful but KML's basic position will always be the three.

Correct Icebear- KML, in my opinion has been our MVP for the entire 6 game Tournament. Maybe Steph 2nd. Kalena has been a monster player for us - she has been doing so many good things in all facets , and makes big plays at really critical times! She has been a beast.
