So, I went out to Big Y in Tolland this evening, with my 7 yr old son and 4 yr old daughter. Both were stressing me out a bit, so I was rushing around trying to get done.
I'm in the bakery and meat/cheeses section at the far side of the store where there was motz and pizza doe and other fresh Italian cooking stuff. I walk behind some guy holding one of those hand held shopping baskets, and I brush into a 2' long Italian bread. The gentlemen says excuse me and just as I turn to tell him it was more my fault than his I look up and there is PP apologizing to me.
My brain apparently was working faster than my mouth, as the first thing out of my mouth is, "Hey Paul!" I slightly start to recover and wish him well in the coming season. I also introduce him to my Son who went to the blue white scrimmage and a live game last year. Paul was very gracious with my children and made some polite small talk. He asked my Son if he was going to watch the Super Bowl tonight, which I responded that they were going to bed so "Dad" could watch.
As we were parting I told him what a nice recruiting class we have so far, and he said we'll have to wait and see this week. After saying "Hey Paul" I was trying to get the pronunciation of his last name correct in my mind, but I gave up and said take care "Coach".
Nice interchange, thought I'd share. Of course the remainder of the time at Big Y I was kicking myself as I wished I had asked him if any of the recruits were at the BBall game tonight, who else was visiting etc.
Anyway, just wanted to share.
