The competitive arena is a no holds barred. Afterwards, "competitive" moments are reminisced fondly and are actually more binding. Shared moments, such as this, compliment both athletes.
It was a perfect moment though. Here we have KLS: in full stride; takes off for the layup; shooting right-handed and protecting with her left arm; elevation is good; ball in right hand, arm fully extended; ... looks like a certain two points. And yet: here comes Collier, stride for stride; elevation is good; left arm at maximum reach; timing is perfect; cleanly rejects the shot.
Teammates in college. Best friends then and now. I think they would have a good laugh about it later.
