After seeing all the open shots in the first quarter, and the good-sized lead in the second, I thought they'd settle down on offense and win. But they turned into the gang who couldn't shoot straight -- not even from 3 feet -- and dashed my hopes. I sure hope the coaches find some way to coax consistency from all the talent we have -- we'll need it. (And much more of Aubrey!)

I think that your statistics are a very instructive rebuttal to those posters who say that "Ice is clearly better than Jana at this point." Numerous posters have said that recently.

Ice may be better in many areas of the game, but rebounding is definitely not one of them. Look above at the three rebounding stats -- offensive rebounding, defensive rebounding, and total rebounds per 40 minutes. Jana is first on the team in all three categories by a wide margin; Sarah is second and Ice is third or tied for third with Morgan (what?). That demonstrates very clearly that Jana is much better than Ice in one crucial skill for a post player: rebounding at both ends of the court.

This suggests a niche role for Jana during the remainder of this season -- she should and probably will play significant minutes against teams who are threatening to dominate the backboards against UConn, but if the rebounding is approximately equal between UConn and its opponent, she will see limited time based on her play thus far.
