As the press, local and national, put the heat on Bobby for an inexcusable performance on his part, I expect the players to rally around their coach.

HCBD has earned many more respect points from his players than from the fans, and it will take much more than a horrible loss for them to turn on him.

Moving forward let's try and focus on supporting the players, through thick or thin. Tough to win with an inferior head coach.

I have to think that the players and their families understand how much Bob screwed up today. Last week he did similar taking another ill advised time out before the fg. I wish BS changed the play on the line, which I believe he is not allowed to do or took a delay of game.

The players love this guy that wont change. But this guy is getting paid for on the job training here. Despicable.

You're begging this question so I'm going to ask it. Supporting the players means helping them win, right? And let me say this first, I like and respect Bob Diaco and believe he is a man who has integrity much like Coach P who was a bad fit for the program.

We've seen a coach fired mid-season and a coordinator step in and immediately improve the situation. Do you think we are at the point where we could bring someone in who would immediately improve our chances of winning games? And if that is the case what is the best way to "support the players" who deserve the best opportunity to be successful? The culture and the respect and the attention to detail are all tremendously important, but when you have shown the inability to manage a game, adjust your thinking and grow from experience in year 3, what is the best outcome for your players? It's complicated but we're at the point of asking that question IMO.

The best way to support the players is not have a meltdown after the first quarter like in the game thread today. (Not directed at you).

The teen age drama queen stuff is a bit much, by some. Knowing they don't ever quit, despite bad coaching, people need to not go over the top over every play, or score by the other team.

Actually I am guilty of seeing this coming in the 2nd Qtr of today's game. We were being totally out-coached until we had no choice but to put some faith in the players. Problem is it's not the first or second game of this Coach's tenure. It's Game 2 of Year 3 and it doesn't look a lot different from a Coaching standpoint than game 2 of year 1. Groundhog Day is for people with very short memories and I don't see this Coach showing any signs of challenging his own assumptions or philosophy.

I've been worried from the beginning that Coach D might fall into the trap of assuming the strategy and philosophy that he interpreted as the reason for success at ND could easily be replicated wherever he went. He's doing it his way but to a large extent that seems to be the case. The more worrying factor is that in year 3 he hasn't fully come to terms with the fact that we are not ND and the game has moved on for the majority of schools not bringing in top 20 talent year after year. If someone could show evidence that he's flexible enough to change and to give control over to a more progressive offensive coach, and is maturing as a game manager I could support it. This is not that.

In your reality that is correct. To us Drama Queens we need to vent. We will be back in the stands or in front of the Samsung next Saturday!
