[ But...

St. John's, Providence, Seton Hall, Marquette, Cincinnati, Xavier, Butler, Temple, UConn, Villanova, Georgetown, DePaul, and Dayton is a pretty good basketball conference. Let's go independent in football because its obvious the administration wants Pasqualoni to run the program into the ground. ]

I would like this but that won't happen for UConn.

Do you realize the point of the catholic schools leaving was to get away from football schools leaving at a moments notice for a better opportunity?

There is less then zero chance they would invite UConn or Cincy as it would completely defeat the purpose of their leaving the BE.

It's a terrible conference because all those teams will be playing for a championship no one cares about once the BCS schools break away from the NCCA and start their own championship.

They oughta shoot themselves in the foot just in case we have a gun!

That's less of a big deal when the philosophy/needs of those schools would be the core of the league's mission, and there are only two possible defectors. UConn and Cincy wouldn't make or break that league - and we wouldn't hold any power. We'd be the outliers, instead of the BB7.

12 teams with Cincy and UConn means they would never have the same problem with football. And they would be prepared for UConn and/or Cincy to get lured away some day. Until then both teams help the NCAA revenue profile

I think that would make sense for UConn at this point, but only because there aren't any other options out there besides having no conference for any sport. I am not sure those guys would let UConn in though. They know that UConn would just be looking to leave at the first chance they could.

The knuckleheads should have left earlier and they could have kept ND

That is going to be a mid-major conference at the end of the day. It is built mostly on 20 plus year old resumes. And UConn has been down this road before in staying with the basketball schools and it doesn't work. And it won't work going forward. time to cut the cord was 2003, but it wasn't done. There was another opportunity in 2008, again a missed opportunity. if we want to have an athletic program in the future, we need to bite the bullet, take whatever steps are necessary and move on with the schools that have football programs.
