for me I would trade our season straight up for SU's season. For me there isn't any difference with the end result. No FF, no championship.

I guess if I were a Cuse fan and my team made the E8 for the first time since '03 I'd consider it a great season, but at Uconn you play for championships and E8's are good seasons, but nothing great.

They lost 2 games and lost in the Elite 8, nah, I'm not trading our season for that.

Syracuse posters will be on this board to brag about their postseason prowess any second now.

Yea, and they lost to a very good team and didn't have one of their key players.

Chin -I keep re-reading the start of your post....so you "would" or "wouldn't" trade????

Although I agree with the premise, they had 3 losses this year.

Can you imagine how much better your life from December to March would've been if uconn had just 3 losses???

They're too busy on their own board blaming the refs...

When you have only 1 regular season loss you gotta get to a Final 4, don't care if Melo was there or not. When UConn lost to Miss St in the Sweet 16 after the year they had that was a major disappointment, I'm sure Cuse fans don't feel any different about this one.

No doubt.

Yeah it's a bit confusing.

As a Uconn fan I'm not jealous of SU's season or it's results.

As Fishy said in another thread, E8's aren't anything to sneeze at but end result is no trophy, no FF and their season lasted 9 days longer than Uconn.

For comparisons sake SU is the dude at the club chatting up girls and grinding with hotties on the dance floor while you're slugging Natty lights at the bar. At the end of the night, you see the dude sitting next to you on a stool at Denny's enjoying a grand slam. No girl, no story, no glory.

we finish, we hang banners, I wouldn't trade with them for anything

As much as we like to flex our muscles over here on this board (and I enjoy it as much as anyone), all it takes is a couple bounces in the wrong direction and Cuse could have three titles to UConn's one. If Duke hadn't completely gagged in 2004, if Fogg had knocked down that shot in the elite eight last year, if Onawku/Melo hadn't gone down in 10/12....etc.

We tend to seize the opportunity much better than Syracuse does, but a lot of it is dumb luck. Jim Calhoun is 6-1 in the Final Four...that's pretty amazing. One of these days our luck will run out and we'll go 10, 15 years without a championship. Ehh..what am I saying? *k Cuse.

What are you talking about? F' it. I don't even think you know what your talking about.

We've put ourselves in a position a lot more than they have to benefit from dumb luck. That means we've also had more than our share of bad luck (Laettner, Donyell's missed free throws, bad bracketing in '95 UCLA, '98 UNC, '02 Maryland where we were the 2 seed in the best team in the country bracket (2 in their home state), '03 and '06 road games against Texas and Mason, Rickey Moore Khalid and AJ's injuries in favorable bracket years, Jerome's injury)....so spare me "If only this bounce happened for Syracuse...". We have more WHAT IF's and still have more titles than they do.

You can say this about any team, any year. If a ball doesn't get stuck in between the rim and basket against texas in 2003 then Syracuse likely plays UConn and loses for a fourth time to UConn that year.

This post is an absolute failure until the last 2 words. Good save at the end though

Yeah, you're right. Not sure what I was even talking about. Hell, you could go down the line of all the times UConn has had tty luck. We had to play *king MSU of all teams in DETROIT in 09. I still believe UConn would have beaten UNC if they had Dyson.

I'm glad you came around. Here is the thing. UConn turned around a reputation in the mid 90s when most thought of the program as one that chokes in the elite 8 or sweet 16 into a program that people think of as simply a winner. Joe Boeheim has been at Syracuse longer than Jim Calhoun, has had less success, and despite the Carmelo championship, has failed to turn the perception of Syracuse as a choker into anything else. When you have mixed results, you can look back and say "ok, some bounces don't go our way but others do...it even out and you find out you're actual level." When every year you are left saying "man the bounces didn't go our way" or something of that sort, then you are doing something wrong to cause the bounces to not go your way. Sure, it was unlucky for 'Cuse to have Keith Smart hit that jumper...but it was equally lucky that they avoided certain teams in the 2003 tournament. Just like UConn was lucky to get pretty good match-ups along the way last year.

Syracuse's track record of NCAA tournament losses is too substantial to ignore. What is worse, their fans are too annoying to ignore (in general). After 5 years or so of having their fans comment on how dirty and unethical UConn's program is, it is time for their fan base to face the music. At least UConn wins.

in that exact situation (without JD...one of the best on that team), we made the final four, and lost an AWAY game.

so i agree.

we closed, or got way closer to closing....when given the opportunity (in the last dozen or so years)
