I mentioned back in October my wife and I were walking 5,000 miles across the country, starting last May. We are now in Indiana where we ran into some UConn women bball news on successive days. In Lanesville, IN we stayed with some IU fans who live near Louisville. They went to the NCAA championship game and were not impressed with UConn fans (I opened the door to this with a homerism: we have the best fans). The general impression they got was one of lack of excitement in comparison to Louisville fans because "we are going to beat (Louisville) by 20-30 and that is that."
The next day we walked with a woman from New Albany, home town of Kennitra Johnson. She had a glowing report about KJ the person but added she came from a tough neighborhood which contributed to her problems with school. She said she has finally gotten beyond that and even graduated from a school (she could not tell me which one, though).
I understand UConn will be down here playing Louisville this coming Tuesday. I'll be an hour or so away (by car, moreso by foot) in Madison, IN. Oh well.
