  1. Our shooting was pretty awful to start. Not hitting outside shots and Butler packed it in on D and make the inside crowded.
  2. Announcers keep talking about how well we're doing on the offensive glass. Unfortunately, that also means we're getting a lot of opportunities by missing way too many shots.
  3. Got things rolling a little better when Clingan and JoeyC came in, and started to slowly build a reasonably comfortable lead.
  4. WOW. Hawkins made a GREAT block and somehow got called for a foul when Ali-Ali-Oxenfree stuck his hand into Hawk's armpit after the shot. Contact was after the shooting motion had ended, and was initiated by the offensive player. That's a horrible call.
  5. Matta jawing at ref at the end of half seems to have had the desired effect, as the refs called an awful lot of stuff against UConn early in the 2nd half. We actually ended up shooting 4 foul shots to Butler's 13 .
  6. At 13:37 left, we had a 10 point lead. And that's when the all around sloppy play manifested itself. At 9:48 it was down to a 4 point game. Enter Adama. Less than 15 seconds later, it's a 7 point game, and the momentum has swung back where it belongs. Sanogo scored almost half of his 27 points in a 7 minute span in the 2nd half.
  7. Bates has a nice midrange jumper from inside the foul line.
  8. Sanogo played his best game so-far this season. Clingan wasn't playing poorly (2 of 2 from the floor, 8 boards, a dime and a block in 9 minutes), but he was never going to get a lot of work with Adama playing like he was. 27 points, 14 boards (7 & 7), 3 dimes, a steal and only 2 TOs. As much as he had the ball in his hands against double and triple team D, 2 TOs is pretty stout. And he's much quicker and more mobile than last year's Adama.
  9. Alleyene was 3 of 5 from deep. He's coming into his own.
  10. The dimes! We had more assists than Butler had field goals.
  11. Another 20+ point win, but somehow, it seemed a little anticlimatic after the long, frustrating stretch between games.

Horrible shooting night early. The shot disparity suggested we would be up big. Eventually some of them fell and Sanogo was just a rock. So reliable on both ends, dominating the boards is really our calling card. Jackson, Sanogo, Newton plus others. The whole team contributes.

Ultimately, our depth is a massive problem for any team. I don’t know who can match it.

Especially at center. This is really starting to show up big now. Tonight we played a pretty good big and he had to play 37 min while Adama got rest playing 31 minutes. Clingan comes in and puts up 3/8/1 and did ok guarding Bates and prevented a few drives and shots near the basket. That duo is already a huge problem for other teams. If we dont have such an off shooting night Ak, AJax, Newt and Hawk this game gets pretty ugly and out of hand. Would love to see what this teams A game looks like against a good conference team.

Honestly, wait until we get Johnson back. Another guy who can guard most 5s or 4s and make 3s plus rebound and run. We’ve talked about depth before but haven‘t actually had it like this. It’s a game changer

If Johnson comes back and hes any type of decent player who contributes night in and night out that would be just ridiculous. I mean its bad enough teams have to deal with AS and DC (wouldnt it be cool if it was Adama Chanogo? AC/DC) but to add another guy with size and athleticism to block shots, guard and rebound would be brutal. For other teams and i have no problem with that. Really hope Samson is a player.

Samson comes back and even contributes as much as he did in the first game and it’s a win. Hope he can be integrated in the rotations slowly. It’s going to take some time to suddenly have to play in the BE. Shame because all the quotes Hurley has given are pretty positive about Samson.

We have depth that can give each of our starters rest. I see Johnson's role is to give Karaban some rest.

Johnson will be mostly helpful in giving Hurley another option at the 4 if Karaban doesn't have a good matchup or he doesn't want to over-extend Jackson at the 4. Even if he can give 10 quality minutes, that will help.

Will be interesting to see how Hurley keeps all these hungry guys all season. Doing a pretty good job so far doling out floor time , and the Ws are the desert.

Our roster construction is really perfect. The only missing piece right now is a big, athletic 4 for when Karaban gets outmatched on occasion defensively... Johnson fits the bill exactly.

If the guys were hitting shots in 1st half, AJax likely has double digit assists. Everybody had at least one, save Hawk, and a handful were beauties.
Not sure how it escaped my attention last night, but Ajax pretty much ran the point during our 2nd half surge. His assist to a cutting Sanogo at around 4:33 was an absolute thing of beauty. Might well have been the play of the game, if we weren't already up by 17 or so at the time.

The Butler team made a few good plays in the 5 to 7 minutes left range, but for the most part, by then the looked dispirited. They knew they were toast.

Who can impact a game more in 9 minutes than Clingan? OK he had 4 points, one on a reverse under the hoop spin move which was beautiful, but he had 8 rebounds. 8 rebounds in 9 minutes? No one can rebound over him. Sanogo was the star of the team and needed to be in there as much as he was but Clingan amazes me in his influence in very limited time.

Oh, I forgot that last blocked shot.
