Do you guys recall Hurley playing against us when he was at Seton Hall? I just don't recall well, and the game logs don't go back that far. Who was he guarding, what do you guys remember about his game? Has he given any interviews about playing against UCONN?

I know that Hurley has said Ray Allen talked a lot of smack while they were playing, and has continued to do so ever since.

That he wasn't Bobby, basically.

The guy played against us when we were the kings of the BE. That's one of the biggest things I loved about the hire: he admired UConn and this wasn't a stepping stone job for him. As a guy from the northeast, who got stomped by UConn, UConn was a dream job.

He was a good player on a bottom half BE program. On the scouting report as one of their best players, but SH wasn't scaring anyone back then. He wasn't close to the Iverson, Kittles, Gomes, or McNamara level opponents. He was closer to Shaheen Holloway, another SH guard.

This isn't accurate, Seton Hall was really bad his final two seasons but they won the Big East his first and second season.

I remember the "you're not Bobby" chants. Given what we now know about what he was going through at the time, it seems kind of harsh and retrospect. But if the goal was to get a point guards head, mission accomplished I guess.

Revisiting his senior 1996 team Hurley was the second leading scorer to Adrian Griffin who I think was his roommate, (and Aubrey Griffin's dad on our women's team). Given Griffin was coach of the NBA Milwaukee Bucks until mid season this year, a teammate, and a roommate, it hasn't been mentioned, but I would be shocked if Hurley didn't reach out to him during our Lakers misery. (I also hadn't realized that Vin Baker was assistant coach in Milwaukee)

I remember well because he is Bobby Hurley's brother - someone I did not like at Duke.
DH was a serviceable PG for a mediocre Seton Hall squad. What I most remember was an ESPN story about his bout of "depression" while at the Hall and sat out an extended period of time. They tried to angle it as his struggle to live up to the Hurley name since his brother and father were always in the sports headlines. It has to be hard to compete against family members.
I feel things turned out ok and I think we know which brother turned out to be the best coach!!

There's a great picture of Bobby with his arm around Danny after that game. I think it was included in "Miracle of Saint Anthony's." Danny does not look happy.
