In the future, I think you’ll see some changes with the way we do non-conference, relative to maybe the opponents and the spacing of the games,” first-year UConn coach Dan Hurley said following practice on Monday. “There’s been challenges that way. Obviously, you’d love to have a game after the holiday. You’d love to have at least one road game in the non-conference.”
A year ago, UConn played at Arizona on Dec. 21, then at Auburn two days later. Then, after a brief Christmas break, the Huskies kicked off AAC play at home on Dec. 30 against Wichita State.
According to a UConn source, Ollie and his staff didn’t like playing two road games so close to each other, then a tough league game after just a few days of practice following Christmas. The staff wanted a little more time to regroup.
