About four hours before tip-off, Hurley was seen walking around with a lit sage throughout the court.

According to CBS Sports Network, this ritual isn’t new. Hurley started burning sage pregame back when he was coaching at the University of Rhode Island. At URI, he started putting sage in the left corner because they kept being beat in the left corner by buzzer beaters — and it worked.

It’s been a staple for Hurley ever since.

Is Dan Hurley’s pregame ritual a secret to the UConn men’s success?

Why cleanse the energy of a place you have been blowing teams away. Obviously it worked better for UMES than it did for us. Change the type of sage your using DH :)

Obviously, he needs to recite haikus from the haiku thread while he’s doing this. Picture him waving around the flaming sage while saying “Charlie V still has no pubes.” I have to believe that would be enormous for the mojo, but even if it wasn’t, it would still be hysterical.

It didn't help Tyrese. I say, shut it down.

sooooooo many things here discussed, dissected, and observed by the rational mind loooooong ago. coach is an odd duck, like sooo many other of us monkeys roaming around. he's also also a fine coach, with an ascending record for both winning and recruiting, and we're lucky to have him, weirdness and all. that 'momma husky' part of his team is quaint and amusing, also kind of fun.
speaking of monkeys, mebbe he should burn sum cannabis once in a while. that stuff can have an overwhelming funk, kinda like the smell in an old fashioned ''monkey house' at the zoo. that stuff gets on you, and u need a dip in a bleach bath to remove it, iffn u want to. or 'wood burning smoke.' that stuff can make the ladies cray-cray out in public, as i think that it gives them visions of a log cabin in winter Vermont -- dreamy. often heard at home- mg, 'ur not going out smelling like that. the girls will attack you in the produce section...' lol. she's right of course. it really is annoying when they crowd you when ur just trying to pick out some apples.
'the stank be with us!' the good stank, not the bad one. lol.

It did wonders for MES' shooting. Whatever spirits were there were apparently friendly.

He needs to have Voodoo dolls made up of every team on the schedule and stick pins in them pre-game.
