Bummer for them, now they'll have to make do with only two MickeyD guys in that slot.

If you've ever checked a UNC forum, you would see that they are constantly begging Roy to bench Strickland in favor of Hairston. Lets see if they were right.

Terrible loss and the reply showed it right away (the upper leg moved about two inches forward compared to the lower leg).

Strickland is twice the defender that Hairston is and also a much better ball handler. Hairston is a better shooter with NBA range. Good position defenders are scarce on the UNC roster and Strickland also gave Marshall some backup minutes at PG. Strickland was the difference for them in the Wisconsin game when he single handedly shut down Taylor. Strickland was a lockdown perimeter defender, the rest of UNC players are indifferent perimeter defenders (hence getting lit up by FSU all game and VTech in the first half...even against cupcakes they would often leave their shooters uncovered and didn't care if they made 3 threes in a row as long as they could get the next rebound to start the fast break).

Good analysis. Thanks. We'll see if the team can overcome this loss and step up their play.

That is indeed some good analysis. I did watch the UW game and I forgot how much trouble Strickland gave Taylor. KM is already a horrid on ball defender and now UNC will be playing two poor perimeter defenders at all times. This is a team that struggled with perimeter defense even with Strickland
