The basketball encyclopedia is retiring. He's the best to ever do it, IMO.

Others have hung on a long time but nobody has hung around and done it in top form like Hubie. 91 years old and he's still the best. I hope this is a very big deal and he gets a major send off from the NBA and everyone in sports media. The guy is a legend.

I thought he was obviously slipping the last few years, but he was def one of the better announcers out there for a long time.

Seemed like a nice guy. Hope he enjoys retirement.

He's entitled to have time off and enjoy his life.

Seems like a guy who could watch a game tape and really give insight to players on improvements they could make.

In real time, he knew every angle there was to know and every nuance of the game.

Old school and wisdom of years.

Basketball evidently is his joy

He never agreed with the officials as a coach. As an announcer, officials never made a mistake

I remember one call maybe it was 20 years ago. He says "good call by the official". Then they show the replay and he says, "there it is, everyone can see it was a good call". Only problem was that the replay showed there was absolutely no contact. The epitome of a fantham call. Just something obviously etched in my memory

Having said that, like most every else, I have come to like and appreciate Hubie, a true legend.
