Not a total shock, great recruiting classes but even in their successful runs they were very up and down. Interested to see if someone big time takes it or if they go the up and comer route.

It’s tough with the way sports are now, leaving a good SEC program to go to a storied ACC program isn’t the no brainer it used to be.

Oats and Golden being good examples: is it better at UNC or Alabama? He’s been in the sweet 16 every year and has overflowing resources.

Roy Williams isn't out there this time.

My friends who are huge Carolina fans want Brad Stevens. Would he leave the Celtics for this?
From what I know about Stevens, and I know people who know him very well, I doubt it. He likes his lifestyle now and he's very well paid. But who knows, maybe he has the itch to coach again. But the college game he left is not the same as today's college game. I'll be curious if UNC at least makes a phone call to see what he says.

My guess is you’ll see Oats at UK after next year. I could see UNC getting Golden.

And Kansas could be looking for a coach soon as well. All 3 programs possibly within a few seasons

Boeheim coming out of retirement might work to make year 1 smoother for McNamara, but folks in Chapel Hill are uneasy with Belichek & Boeheim sharing the spotlight.

Instead, Cooley might be tempted by a P4 upgrade, which would open up Georgetown for Kim English's dream job.

According to On3:
  • Todd Golden
  • Nate Oats
  • Mark Byington
  • Dusty May (lol)
  • Grant McCasland
  • TJ Otzelberger
  • Billy Donovan
And according to the Athletic, Golden and Oats aren’t interested.

After that though, their list of five is similar:

Byington
Donovan
May (agreed, lol)
Otzelberger
and Tommy Lloyd (also lol)

Byington or Oztelberger, if they could pry him from Ames, both seem like good hires. With Kansas also possibly opening up, it could be a wild carousel.

Going to be interesting.

I do think Oats will leave for a bigger blue blood type program.

Could be a matter of which job opens up first, UK, Kansas, if Self retires. And then there’s Mich State, how long will Izzo continue?

I think Oats would do well at any of those.

According to Jeff Goodman, he talked to people close to Brad Stevens and they told Goodman that Brad will never coach again.

I think Self is going to retire soon, wouldn't be at all shocked if it happens this offseason.
