To set a realistic expectation here, the number of players on the fan ballot is always incredibly high. The fan vote also accounts for a miniscule percentage of the eventual outcome.

Evans is 9th in points per game, which will likely take on an increased role this year due to uneven game totals. That'd have to shoot up to top five for him to be a contender to make the Hobey Hat Trick. That said, he's definitely in line to make the 10 semifinalists and still has a shot at the final.

Looking at stats, all skaters might eventually be screwed by the Minnesota State goalie. He's putting up insane numbers - 0.90 GAA/.954 sv%. No goalie has won it since Miller in 2001, in part because no one came close to his numbers - those stats beat Miller. If he continues at that pace, it'll be impossible to not give it to him, there'll be a lot of pressure to finally give it to a goalie again.
