Talk to me peeps. Spring practice is over. Next time they hit the fields will be in heat of summer. Have they been moving the sleds on the fields? Is the new grass on the practice fields for spring torn up?

Are we going to block this year?

I honestly thought this thread was going to be about the hundreds of rolls of sod they put down around campus every spring. Any current or recent student knows what I'm talking about. I get the reasons behind it, but I'd love to see the amount of money they spend on new grass on campus every year. It has to be an absurd amount.

The first year of the "beautification" they laid down sod and let it burn beyond belief. But then, they finally decided to water it. And what happened when they were watering it? It was during a tremendous 3 day downpour. The trucks were literally watering the grass during the middle of a 3 day rain storm.

We must have overlapped in our time there because I remember it all too well. They have good intentions, but the execution has been very poor. Another example: the sundial garden which took over 2 years to build (while entire buildings were being built more quickly)

There's grass on campus? Wow. Sincerely, a graduate of UConn from the '90's.

Oh, there is grass! I graduated in 90 and there was no sight better than the first 70 degreee day when all the honeys opened up Jungle Beach, that small strip of grass between the right side of the jungle and the fence to the cemetary. Forget baseball opening day, that was the true sign of spring.

As a proud alum of New Haven Hall back when I was a freshman I heartily concur with Fairfield_1st.

Darn right. If we got lucky, there would be a warm day, 70 plus, right before spring break. My roommate and mine from Alumni would hike to the Dairy bar sunglasses on stopping at each and every dorm quad on the way there and back just to enjoy the spring scenery.

Same concept in Boston. Ever hear of the BU beach?

Ahhh, Sundress Day. No finer time to be a student in the Northeast.

Oh you mean that kind of grass?

In the early 2000's the beach became the quad area between the two sides of the Jungle. Loved having classes in MSB in the spring because I always made sure I walked right past Jungle so I could see the sights. That was the true barometer on when Spring began on campus!

Pretty sure it's in the CT state constitution that this album MUST be blasting in the quad on Sundress Day:

Hey, we have an ag school. They should grow the grass on campus or flunk.

There's nothing quite like the first warm day when all that pale skin comes out of hibernation.
