The issues I have is first off you can't press for 40 minutes because it would mean you are completely embarrassing some opponents and that would be quite a few in the Big East and not every ooc game is a good team. We'll see if he does it. But as a fan we dodn't care near as much as the coach and the university and possibly the players of deliberately pushing pace when you are up by 60+ points in the 2nd half. It's easy to say as a fan "The hell with them- keep running it up." Secondly, I've always disagreed with how much the significance of the philosophy of UCONN's bench being so superior vs. another team's which draws the conclusion then that you must play much of the bench that much more. The problem is that teams aren't going to accommodate you by going deep into their bench. As a result you're potentially giving some of the other team's starters an opportunity to either rest more on defense or score more efficiently on offense because you have the 9th and 10the best players of UCONN on the floor. As far as leaving a couple of the starters in when the team is up by 40 imo that is nowhere near what you're suggesting because the 1 or 2 starters he has in are not looking to push pace other than an incidental play. Unless they are struggling and just looking for anything to get them going (which sometimes is an advantage playing in the Big East btw). Slowing down the game and running a halfcourt set is much, much different than continuing to press with the intent to keep scoring as quick as possible by continuing to press.
