One of the most emotional moments I ever experienced in sport. RE and that team willed their way to that victory. Lloyd made that play on the goal line and it set the tone for who would be the more physical team down the stretch. Dre ran two or three staight over the left side of that big and brutal OL to end it. ND had nothing left to respond to that.

There were so many memorable plays in that game, but one that always stuck wiht me was when Teggart missed the FG at the end of regulation which sent the game into OT. Moe Petrus immediately put his big arms around Teggart and told him not to worry. UCONN had some much more juice heading into the OT than ND and that was very clear from that play.

I swear I would have punched those refs in the face for those holding calls had I been on that field!

The thing I remember the most about that game was the feeling that they had to beat refs and Notre Dame. It was the most ridiculous officiating I can recall. We beat two opponents that day.

I remember thinking that the refs weren't going to let us win. That was part of the rush when we finally finished them off.

ND's respect for UConn's grieving was evident where all the employees at the ND bookstore were wearing #6 lapel pins.
When I thanked them, she offered me her pin.

Pretty good spirit. The stadium was full even after the game. I disliked the refs but Notre Dame as whole was very classy.

As long as I live, I will never forget 4 weeks earlier stopping at a gas station mini-mart just outside of Morgantown to get some snacks, seeing a number of WVU coeds with #6 painted on their faces and bursting into tears.
