There were so many memorable plays in that game, but one that always stuck wiht me was when Teggart missed the FG at the end of regulation which sent the game into OT. Moe Petrus immediately put his big arms around Teggart and told him not to worry. UCONN had some much more juice heading into the OT than ND and that was very clear from that play.
I swear I would have punched those refs in the face for those holding calls had I been on that field!
I remember thinking that the refs weren't going to let us win. That was part of the rush when we finally finished them off.The thing I remember the most about that game was the feeling that they had to beat refs and Notre Dame. It was the most ridiculous officiating I can recall. We beat two opponents that day.
ND's respect for UConn's grieving was evident where all the employees at the ND bookstore were wearing #6 lapel pins.
When I thanked them, she offered me her pin.
As long as I live, I will never forget 4 weeks earlier stopping at a gas station mini-mart just outside of Morgantown to get some snacks, seeing a number of WVU coeds with #6 painted on their faces and bursting into tears.ND's respect for UConn's grieving was evident where all the employees at the ND bookstore were wearing #6 lapel pins.
When I thanked them, she offered me her pin.
