Here's the relevant quote:

"It is still a challenge for us, because they guys that we are competing for, because of where we want to take this program, are getting Power Five offers," Mora said. "That is just the way it is. We will get really close with some guys and then a Power Five team will jump in and that is just something we can not compete against right now. But there are so many positives that are happening right now that at least we are in the game with those guys, and we are starting to make some breakthroughs."

He's not wrong. Glad we have an adult in charge that understands what he's working with/what he's up against and can pivot accordingly. It goes beyond NIL - There is a prestige factor in terms of Power 5 vs non power 5. We will even lose most kids to the Rutgers and Georgia Techs due to this, even if we are offering more playing time.

Sustained winning solves this to a degree though, so let's get there and then can re-evaluate.

Having an aggressive, pass orientated offense attracts talent (even OL want to pass block if want next level); defense same re aggressive attracts talent (have advanced more there). I like UConns chances of getting to playoffs over Rutgers, Vanderbilt, Kentucky and lot of others; show out with 9 or 10 wins and all of a sudden question is whether an undefeated UConn gets a bid.

I think we will struggle to attract playmakers on offense until Mora proves his team won't be focused only on defense. I would guess that's why we aren't stacked at QB and WR.

This will be a big year for Charlton.

Spot on...
Bottom line: we gotta win... Naysayers are still in majority (outside of us fans... even some of us are promoting that naysay mentality... because they want us to stay as a basketball dominant only school... news flash: we're not going back there...)....
JM has us mentality prepared to fight week in and week out.. I'm certain of it from what I saw this past season... Once we string together a few winning seasons (along with bowl games, but this time put Ws on the board) we'll really start to see recruiting jump...

How can UC even keep up ? By adding USC / UCLA to B1G they think that TV revenue can be 80m per team per year. B1G + SEC will be super conferences. All others will be left behind financially. It was reported that Texas gave Archie Manning 3.5 m in NIL money. Clemson + FSU want a higher share of the ACC TV money and the others to take less. They said to keep up with NIL cost of the 2 big boys SEC + B1G. Players in all sports will go where the money is.

NIL and obscene TV revenue shares are well on the road to destroying the college game we used to know and love. No stability. Kids shopping for the most money. It’s a total joke. Greedy adults manage to ruin everything.

I agree, including the ones we call "kids"

We lost Turner and Marion this spring due to NIL money.
