Sen. Mitch McConnell on U of L and ACC: "Tom Jurich has built it, and they should come." courier-journal.com/article/201211…

" U.S. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, a U of L graduate, said the university should find an appropriate landing spot. He was unsuccessful last year in an attempt to get U of L into the Big 12. U of L is the only school in the country with an athletic budget in the top 20 that is not in a power conference,” McConnell said. Athletic director “Tom Jurich has built it, and they should come.”

I am sure our own Dickie "When I was in Vietnam" Blumenthal will go to bat for Uconn.

Forget about hearing from Blumenthal as a promoter. He was the lead dog in the suit vs The ACC as Attorney General.

That Pitt immediately joined. Harp about the lawsuit if you must, but it seems to me that it saved the Big East, albeit temporarily. Remember, the ACC's goal was to destroy the Big East. UConn's D-1 journey would have been over before it started.

I guess we would have still been D-1...in the MAC or Conference USA..

I'm not analyzing the lawsuit, just that Blumenthal is not the right point man for us with the ACC. He is perceived rightly or wrongly as the guy who sued the ACC. Boeheim mentioned that to one of my friends before all of the current conversation.

Mitch is the ugliest person in the US Senate and frightens little children in his spare time.

He's one of 3-5 people figuring out this fiscal cliff mess, hopefully he spends more time on that.

I have to agree...Mitch, leave sports alone and please do your job...(You too Mr. Reed, you jerk)

A congratulations to the Senator bump. We're going to found out very soon he was intimately involved in the past week lobbying for Louisville and alternately wielding a threatening stick. In the meantime, our politicians were.. . . .well, they were. . . . crickets. Everybody likes to bury Dick Blumenthal for suing the ACC but guess what? Now the ACC is suing Maryland. The Horde doesn't have the DNA to do this but one of them should call them and at least get his reaction to McConnell's involvement.
