I think one thing these guys missed is the kind of upcoming year Victor Rosa can have. Last year and the year before Rosa came so close numerous times to breaking tackles for a clear score or major yardage. This year I think if he can stay healthy, I think he breaks those tackles and maybe puts us up two scores early on. In prior years defenses could afford to key on him and stop him before some daylight. This year opposing D will not have that luxury, and I’m not even mentioning Cam or Evers running it, or the passing threat from whoever is in at QB.

We have to spread the offense more often to open up the field. And use Rosa and Edwards on dink and dunk (think Patriots with Brady dinking and dunking) and let these two guys make someone miss and/or bully their way for 5+ yards to move the chains and keep our defense off the field. Certainly we will run a lot, but we HAVE to open things up/modernize or we will be the same old predictable and stagnant offense scoring 21 points or less.

It works both ways, unlike last year the passing threat will open things up for Rosa with only one guy standing in his way, unlike last two years when he was gang tackled. It will be interesting to see what the betting line is against Maryland.

We're going to go 9 and 3 this season at worst, not including our bowl game.
I’d go with that, my only concern is team speed on defense. There has to be improvement in that department.

The Simon brothers are back ups. The transfer from GT is a backup. My gut tells me we should have kids flying around on D.

My concern is OL. How long till they gel and can they keep qb prone

I’m always surprised how i find myself thinking something different might happen every year and then doesn’t.
I'll send you a recording of my wife's comments after I tell her about all the positives we're hearing......she'll cure your optimism.

Defense is going to be vastly improved. The team will go as far as Nick’s arm will take them. Also dependent on getting similar production from the O-line as the past couple years.

RE the D. You think so? I will have to be convinced. The last time UConn tried a three man front they could not stop a thing. And the LB's are unproven.

During RE's entire second tenure we could not stop a thing. The problems were way beyond the "three man front".
