When I look at the womens bb teams I sometimes fall in the trap of looking at them compared to mens football. Don't ask me why. But it was a fun process so I wanted to see what you guys thought.

So in my mind:

Uconn = Alabama. Always in contention for a championship; Dominant when winning; and on lean years still a top team

Tenn = Notre Dame. Rich tradition; name is big in the sport; no recent success

Stanford = FSU. Sometime the winner most times bad luck; just good not the best

South Carolina = Miami. Big splash; came out of nowhere; potential to be bad again

Notre Dame = Oklahoma. We just don't understand you from year to year

Texas = Texas. Enough said

Keep it going guys. Just a fun thread

Tennessee is more like Nebraska football.

Hasn't FSU been pretty much irrelevant since Bowden retired? I don't see this one being a good comparison.

FSU won the Title in 2013, and made the CFP in 2014. I think Bowden retired in 2009 or so.. Jimbo Fisher had them rolling for awhile.. until he pretty much quit on FSU.

Yes. At least Nebraska was a dominant program for a long stretch with multiple titles. ND has won one title in my lifetime, and that was over 30 years ago.

My bad, but they've fallen off a cliff since then. They've had multiple losing seasons with no bowl game. That doesn't at all compare to Stanford wbb. They've been a bit up and down during Tara's tenure but have rarely gone for long without a Final 4 appearance and I don't think she's ever had a losing season there. I'm sticking with my point that it's not a good comparison of the 2 programs.

I am a much bigger football fan than WCBB fan despite my presence here. I'd say this list has some good comparisons but some are a little off.

As mentioned above Stanford is much more like OSU than FSU. Also I don't really see SC being like Miami because I don't really see SC slipping to irrelevancy as long as Dawn is there. I'd say Baylor has that potential more than SC since we know Mulkey built that program from literally nothing and Collen may or may not be able to keep it going.

As much as it pains me, I would compare South Carolina to Clemson football...recent big name on the scene that has won a few titles and recruits at a high level year in and year out...

But Clemson isnt a recent big name though. They had a strong program in the 80s under Danny Ford.. ...they did win a national championship in 81 or 82.

SC technically made the Final four in 1980 during the pre-NCAA tournament days. As for Clemson, if I remember correctly wasn't that championship followed by huge recruiting violations? I don't believe that championship was vacated, as it should have been, but it was kind of tainted nonetheless.

Nope, never in a million years will I ever agree to that comparison.

UNC = Tenn Football. Both won their lone national championship over 24 years ago, And while they have had good teams since, they have been overtaken in national stature by fellow conference mates. Oh yeah... both fanbases have an overinflated opinion of their program's status in the hierarchy of the sport. I say this from an unbiased perspective.

Oh, shuddup!

hey now
