Probably too structured for Americans, especially today's Americans, but there were no harder working people and no culture more focused on doing their best for their employer or their country. Also very strict about following rules and obeying the law. One of my friends was a dentist and one of his jobs was to provide dental care for American servicemen in the local jail. No windows, just bars on openings in the walls, even though it got down to freezing in the winter. No bed, just a concrete platform to lie on. And, if I remember right, your family had to bring you food because they didn't provide it......at least that was the way it was in their hospitals. Also tough sentencing. If a foreigner was in a traffic accident they'd usually be considered at fault (even if they weren't) because to them if the foreigner hadn't been there the accident wouldn't have happened.
