Notre Dame took on the challenge - as did Louisville - and Depaul. And near the end, Notre Dame won the conference twice and has gone on to win every ACC championship since. And playing in the ACC has helped them sustain the success - decent competition on a regular basis versus UConn playing in AAC, which doesn't provide the same gauntlet.
