Yes, before tonight's game, it was hard to tell why she was ranked #2 in the land and why UConn recruited her. Now we can see how she plays Georgetown-style better than Georgetown.

I thought Jefferson would be a bigger contributor this year, this team needs more speed to create turnovers, and which lead to easy baskets.

Mo is one of 3 or possibly 4 PGs, but Geno intends for her to be the PG of the future. Her shooting has not been great so far, but her ball handling and defense have been mostly good. That's a hard position to learn, especially playing for Geno.

True. Give her time, she's coming along.

Maybe it's just me, but it seemed that Bria got better, to the extent she was better at all, when a real point guard was in the game. I am sounding like a stuck record these days (for those of us who remember what a record was and what it was like when it was stuck), but Bria IMHO is NOT a point guard. She's not comfortable doing it, it cuts down on her effectiveness otherwise, and sooner or later she'll make a couple of those passes to nowhere like she did tonight.

Geno has always been able to play some non-point guards at point guard because he recruits such fine athletes, and Bria gets away with it much of the time. But it is not where she should be playing, and having her at the shooting guard just open up a world of better opportunities for her.

I think Bria can play point late in game, but I think it helps her to start a game off guard.

It's just a matter of aggressiveness. To me, it always seems like when she's playing point, she has the mindset that her job is to set others up, and she's not aggressive at all. Thus, she forces things that aren't there rather than look for her own shot.

When she starts off a game as an off guard, IMO, she's more aggressive, and her role in the game is set by the time Caroline sits down.

Bria's problem though, IMO, goes beyond that. She was an AA last season, and often times was playing the PG position while doing that. Yes, she's going to turn the ball over. But guess what, DT did that quite often too. This season though..she's either mentally frustrated with herself and struggling because of it, or something isn't right physically. I know she looked better the second half but we haven't seen "Big Game Bria" at all this season. And it's concerning.

BTW: I hate to use words like "passionless." I don't think that's quite fair..

Per the box score, Mo jeff had 7 steals!

7 steals, and ZERO turn-overs.

That is damn good guard play.

Mo said something in the pre-game shows about: "Going forward, I want to contribute more to my team's success." She sure did that tonight. No more shy freshman. She is ready to impose her will on both her own team and UConn's opponents.

She also did a wonderful interview after the game with Kerith. She is a smart kid with very good communication and language skills.

Hello...she's a Texan. Don't you remember a guy named George W Bush?

Jefferson is from Glenn Heights, where I owned a home and lived for about 10 years, about an hour from Waco. She must have loved UCONN not to go to Baylor where her family probably could have seen her play every home game.

It does not stretch one's imagination to believe in the possibility that Geno will hand Moriah the keys to the car by season's end.

Her playing time is increasing, along with her confidence and efficiency. A little more consistency with her shooting touch and she will become The UConn Point Guard for the forseeable future.

Based on his historical actions it does stretch my imagination. However, I can see him letting her drive the car on some family trips.....with him sitting next to her. ;)

I was chanting:
Way to Go, MO!.
Maybe has to become a sign

Some players get steals by being in the right place at the right time. Others do a great job of anticipating passes, then intercepting them, but Mo does it the blue collar way, she just takes the basll. She was driving the other tram crazy, you sort of get it when you telegraph a pass and it gets picked off, but when you are int he open court dribbling, and you think you are taking care of the ball, then, boom, it is gone, it must be frustrating.

I would bet the ranch (Tejas enough?) they get to see her play every game. (Big benefit of SNY)

Agree on all points. I also think that she will develop or has already a killer instinct. She was terrific last night, hence my starting this thread
