Welp. I know we are trying to stay out of the 4-5 game but is Houston in the 3-6 a safe bet? Already beat us and Memphis and at 14-14 6-9 that isn't too horrible and they could find themselves in CIT or CBI or maybe even NIT.

I will say though, having been inside Gampel that night...Houston can look really really really bad.

We have a middle class after all, Houston has a shot at the NIT with three winnable games remaining, and Tulsa had a huge win at UTEP tonight. Tulsa is now tied for first in CUSA and they are a lock for the NIT if they don't win their conference tournament. BTW Tulsa is led by an impressive group of sophomores.

Houston is clearly not a good team but they have too many top-100 recruits to suck every game.

It seems unlikely that we'll be getting anything other than Memphis/UConn in the quarterfinals. SMU has the tie-breaker over us, correct? If that's the case, the only way UConn could get to a three seed would be if they win out and SMU drops two of their remaining three.

All this means is that we might wear the white jerseys instead of the blue jerseys against Memphis in the 4/5 game. Hopefully it doesn't allow people to discount our two wins against Memphis (which comprise two-thirds of our "quality wins").

We obviously have to take care of business. But with SMU having Ville and @ Memphis left, it definitely is possible.

You win some, you lose some...hope Houston makes the post season.

One thing I noticed by looking at SMU's OOC is that their 2 losses were @ Arkansas and by 2 points against Virginia.
Both losses are going to be scrubbed when the tourney committee considers seeding them. The two black marks for them are losses to USF and Temple. That's it.

That being said, UConn would have to win out to grab the #3 slot, and it's certainly possible because I don't know if SMU can beat Louisville and @Memphis.

I don't know what to make of this. If we're posting about wanting to avoid Houston we might as well cancel the season.

Not looking to avoid them. Just emphasizing it wouldn't have been an automatic win. All in all pretty dumb thread but I was bored. That last part will be written on my tombstone.

We are big Memphis fans today. UConn has 3 top 50 wins, 2 of which are over Memphis. Memphis probably needs to win 2 of its final 3 to stay in the Top 50, and those games are Louisville, @Cincinnat, and SMU.

This is why I hate this league so much. UConn would never agree to play 5 road games against midmajors, but by being in this league, that is exactly what we did. You play enough midmajors on the road, some of them will get lucky. That, together with the fact that the bottom 5 lost so many non conference games, is going to make it tough for the AAC to get 5 teams in the dance. The bottom 5 are dragging the top 5's RPI's down.

And UConn could really use a win over Cincinnati.
