Houston has clause that lets them out of BE

Houston apparently has a clause in their contract that says they don't have to pay an exit fee to the BE if certain financial levels aren't meant. God, I hope we get an ACC invite

to be honest if we don't meet those financial goals it won't matter anyway. If the BE TV deal is paying $5-6m/year, who cares if Houston is in the conference or not? We want them to help us get a competitive deal, if we don't get the competitive deal I wouldn't expect them to stay. Same goes for Boise and everyone else.

I think the eastern teams ought to stick together. Maybe form a whole new conference with a different vision and less baggage. Tighten things up a bit. I have a strong hunch that the western branch of the New Nuevo Big East will never come to fruition.

Regardless of what happens to us, I hope that what is left does this.

No one is backing out. Houston, Boise and SDSU figured this was possible when they signed up. They are running away from the detritus in their own leagues as much as running towards the Big East. They will get an infinitely better TV deal than they would have ever gotten in their old leagues.
