Watched this a few weeks ago and it was amazing to watch. Michigan thought they could keep up and they just got run out of the gym. I feel like a team could play like LMU today and be successful but it just takes the right mix of players.

Earlier in the regular season in February of 1990 against LSU, LMU won the game 148-141. They sure knew how to score. I remember that track meet on national TV.

What a tragedy with Hank Gathers...I get chills thinking about Kimble shooting his first free throw lefty in the tournament games in memory of his buddy. I wonder if they could've given UNLV a game if Gathers was with them?

I don’t think so. Those Vegas teams were just too versatile and good. Still pissed they got robbed by the NCAA the following year.

Yes those UNLV teams were stacked. It’s amazing to me that Loyola made it all the way to the Elite 8 a few weeks after Gathers passed.

This was during the golden era of cbb (because I say so lol) and more importantly my golden era. Id give just about anything to go back to being a 14 year old kid watching this tournament on tv. It was my first march madness.
