i was told i could make a post. seems like a lot of people envisioned our run beginning with beating depaul last night (and, of course, we won) so im sure the boneyard is in a better mood than it has been lately.

i honestly didnt watch much of the game last night because i was busy with other stuff and figured we'd either kill them (boring) or they'd somehow beat us (which, admittedly in this point in the season and as much as i hate it, is not that far-fetched an idea), something i didn't want to watch. but, from what i saw from the box score, everybody who should have gotten theirs got theirs lat night. now, i'd hate to have to remind you all that it was depaul, but the numbers were very, very optimistic. ive been rooting for our guys the whole way and i really hope that killing depaul is the turning point like it was last year. it's a shame it took this long in the season for a truly full team effort, but there's nothing we can do about that. no need to continue talking about the problems ive mentioned earlier since everyone is surely keen to them by this point in the season.

that said, from the parts i saw, we STILL need to do SOMETHING more to defend the three better. i know im not the only one who saw depaul get two wide open threes in transition where there was literally nobody in the same half of the halfcourt court as the shooter. they missed them both, but that still cant be happening as often as it does. our guards collapse on the paint way too quickly to (i assume) try to strip the ball and leave at least one shooter wide open. obviously cant note the usual things since clearly the bigs AND guards showed up (less than 10 TOs i believe!) in the same game, and we saw what this team has had the potential to do all along. we all just have to hope that it continues.

i guess ill take this opportunity to address JC: i dunno how many people on here know what his condition is or entails, but "stenosis" is a medical term roughly for "narrowing." that means that his vertebrae (in his lower back, nonetheless) are literally narrowing and sqeezing down on his spinal cord *cue cringe. the amount of pain it can cause is terrible, and it explains why JC was not nearly as animated as he normally is in the last few games he coached. now, the therapy for this kind of condition is obviously different depending on the severity (which none of us here know for sure), but there is no real cure here. cancer can be beat and it will go away. the only real quick-fix-so-i-can-get-coaching-asap option for this is spinal surgery, which will put JC out for some time. and even then, it's not completely gone; JC will be in physical therapy and will have to be a lot less mobile for a long time. this is his spine we're talking about, so it needs to be handled with care. ill let you come to your own conclusion about how long you think JC will be out. im in no way on the side thats saying it's time for JC to quit, but i do know how debilitating this condition can be.

Being at the game, though we didn't make many threes, the feel was that we were winning the three point game against them. Most, if not all, of their threes came came when we were already up by double digits and our defense started slacking.

i saw we made 33% of our threes, which isn't terrible i guess, but the whole thing that we've noticed since the beginning is exactly what you say: we get a lead and start to slack. well, we all also know that that has cost us games, and it really can't be excusable (your post has an excusable tone to it; i could be wrong though).

At one point, Jeremy Lamb glanced at the camera, as if he was looking straight into my living room, and my wife thought about leaving me for him.

Case in point, don't let your girl around the Lamb.

i was told i could make a post.

God: "Babysheep..."

Babysheep: "Yes? Who is there? Who is there in the night?"

God: "It's Me."

Babysheep: "Me who?"

God: "Me...God. Didn't you see? I capitalized the "M", you know, God-style? Me...."

Babysheep: "But this is a conversation and I can't see..."

God: "...big, booming voice coming out of the Heavens? Couldn't figure that out? No?"

Babysheep: "..."

God: "Anywho, I just wanted to say, you can make a post."

Babysheep: "I shall, God! I shall!"

I think you're right on this one.

Rewatching the Georgetown game, there was seriously something wrong with Calhoun on the sidelines.

Any sort of neck or spinal injury is very, very hard to live with - you can't move, you don't want to move and the act of moving makes you wish you hadn't. It is a core misery - and he does not have a desk job. If he's at work, he's on his feet, on an airplane or on a wooden bench in some gym.

It may be a while and when he comes back, I'm not sure we'll seem him travel to road games for a spell.

A sarcastic Fishy post and a serious Fishy post one right after the other. I'm pretty sure this is what caused Katrina.

I couldn't help it.

There was nothing wrong with what he wrote and I get the sense that he's a student or something like that - I intended the second post to make up for poking fun in the first. But I was just fascinated by his first sentence.

"I was told I could make a post."

By who? How did word get to him that it was okay? That we needed him at this precise moment? Was it his way of breaking the ice with us? How long did it take for him to decide, well, I will go with 'I was told I could make a post'? What were the other options he went over? I'd love to see the drafts he wrote before settling.

Or, more likely, perhaps I thought more about it than he did. He just captured my attention.

The great ones always capture your attention without much effort.

And also, making up for your sarcasm? It seems to me that you have softened in recent times.

Speaking from experience serious back pain is not only debilitating but is completely zaps your energy and becomes all consuming. I recently heard Bill Walton talk about his back issues and at one point felt his life was over.

About defending the 3. BSheep is right. Depaul missed a lot of wide open shots otherwise their fg% would have been beeter

i was lurking that night and saw someone (i believe a mod? so 'internet God' would be more applicable) make a thread where they basically said that they wouldn't delete a thread if i chose to make one (previous policy was delete all my posts until april). not sure exactly what caused the change of heart.
