Herman Couldn't Have Dreamed A Better Night For UH

I cannot believe some of the comebacks this team has managed to create over the years.
2009 Tulsa (I highly suggest listening to the radio call of the 50 yard FG make. Hilarious)
2011 La Tech
2014 Pitt
2015 Memphis

The entire stadium lost their minds after the missed field goal.

On ESPN Radio yesterday, one of the guest talking heads suggested that Herman's name is on the short list as the next head coach at USCw.

Whatever happens, happens. I'm just going to enjoy the ride and continue to support the program.

At some point here, an AAC program will have to pony up somehow and keep their coach. The only way to truly challenge the P5 is to figure out how to pay. Fighting the battle with money would legitimize the conference. If it can't be done, all the ranked teams, coaching stories and fun games are a tease that will end in heartbreak.

It is truly sad that the success of this conference will have no long term significance due to budget constraints. I am thoroughly enjoying the AAC this year. Even my son and his friends who are Gator fans are found watching AAC games. All they need to see is a ranking next to the school name and they'll watch. I had boys hanging out at my house watching Memphis/Houston last night and they were loving it. One of them turns to me and say's, "Where is Houston?"

Our only hope is if UH alum and owner of Landry's chain, Tilmain Fertita, steps up with a major donation.

Please baby make it happen.

No, it isn't just money. Prestige is a big factor too. However, money would really help. Some of these jobs are relatively low pressure and enjoyable for these coaches. They might think twice if the money weren't so disparate.

I love UConn but if I was there making $1.5 mill and I could get $6 mill from Ohio State, I'd have to take it for the sake of my children and future generations of my family. At $4 mill plus, I'd stay at UConn where pressure is lower and my future appears certain.

Watching the game last night, my daughter asks "Where's Houston?" I said it's a city in Texas. Then she asks, "Where's Memphis?". I said it's a city in Tennessee. She pauses and then asks, "Is Tennessee a city in Texas too?"

Rumors about Herman and Missouri also. Some sort of link there

It feels like a coach shouldn't be able to leave after one year. That has to be tough on recruits.

3 million is the magic number. J feel like if we can hit that, Herman isn't going anywhere. The other key factor is keeping his assistant.

$3M is the number I'd like UConn (and all AAC schools who take sports seriously) to get to on the football scale. That would be double what P5 deadweights like Wake, RU and the Fruit pay.

This league and every G5 league is going to always be a stepping stone for coaches. It's the reality we live in now. You could almost say that some of the consistent bottom P5 schools fall into the same category. Anytime a large name program comes calling, a coach is going to go for it, even if it is an epic fail.

I don't know the numbers but I'd imagine the number of coaches who succeed when they take their "dream job" is very small.

I doubt just money will change coaches leaving the G5 for greener pastures.

It is what it is. The G5 is currently viewed as a proving ground for up and coming coaches. While there are plenty of teams that can break out and have a big year, building on that success by growing your program is something altogether different. Coaches know this and most will strike while the iron in hot. I imagine Herman, Fuente, and Rhule will all get serious interest from P5 Schools this season. The key for all G5 Programs is to continue to identify quality head coaching candidates to step in should their current HC move on. It sucks for these schools, but it's reality.

My well connected buddy at UT says the boosters are ready to buy out Charlie Strong and Tom Herman is high on their list.

We used to have super wealthy football boosters until Hathaway, CT coaches and sheeple excoriated the hand that fed them.
