Thanks. Really interesting article. I like statistics, and we're in the age of Freakonomics, where statistics are used to disprove our own mental assumptions. That's fun.
But what's most interesting to me is that the statistics for a relatively simple game like basketball don't actually tell y0u much that you don't already know--or should know if you're halfway intelligent. According to the article, coaches primarily use them to "prove" to your players that you were right all along. I don't think Geno needs any help in "proving" anything to his players. If they aren't convinced by what he says, they don't play.
I remember once charting a game and going to the coach and saying: look at all these shots the opponents are taking from the left side of the court. The coach looked at me like the fool I was and said: that's because both their guards are left-handed. Duh!
