Hergy Mayala Has Emerged as Key Piece to Offense

This team has weapons on offensive to produce 30+ points per game. It does. Avg to big, fairly quick WR's. Massive TE's. More than capable RB's and when not under constant duress, a capable QB that can hit the open target and scramble when "needed".

What it needs is for that friggin O-line to stop getting blown up and attack the damn defense. Attack I say !!!!
They have the size and supposedly the strength. Nut up and get it done. As a former lineman, this is frustrating to constantly say.

It needs that and to stop holding up a billboard to the defense advertising what our next play is.

Shirreffs showed what he can do on Saturday. So did our receiving core. They are very capable of being a solid offense.

One could argue that Shirreffs underthrew Hergy on the wide open pass play... but it's all good. the QB threw it to an open WR that caught the ball and turned up field to get YAC.. Excited about what Hergy has in store for us going fwd...

he had to wait for it. we ended up with a fg on that drive. get 7 there and the whole end game plays out differently.

I agree about attacking. They seem content to just create a perimeter around Shirreffs/RBs. They are the best they've been in years right now but can/need to get better. You're all GD gigantic get the DL on their heels!

as well as our 2nd to the last drive where Ran, Ran, and Ran up 3 inside our own 10 with around 7 minutes to play... I think if that pass play got executed properly, and we scored a TD on that long pass, we'd probably throw the ball a little more to control the clock...

I'm still trying to figure out why we Ran, Ran, and Ran when we were up 3.. still a head scratcher...

There's no creativity to our standard offense. I don't know if Shirreffs is making the calls during 2 minute drills or if Verducci just doesn't have time to overthink things, but we look so much better in the gun.

I think that happened more because BS got lit up as he released the ball rather than a poor throw. Hergy has been running behind opposing secondaries multiple times a game, hopefully we can start finding him more.
